
"LNSS: Teaching Materials"is a collection of teaching presentations developed in PowerPoint within Modules 3 and 5 implemented in the framework of ,,Library Network Support Services: modernising libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]” project and used in the Pilot Trainings 1 and 2 that took place at the Academy of Public Administration.
The purpose of this work is to provide to librarians, academics and those interested in the areas researched within the project a set of relevant teaching materials that will serve as reference support in the fields of library management and marketing, information culture, innovative services for the library of the 21st century, electronic library management, access to library services for people with special needs, development of library collections, etc., domains that have been researched and exploited within the project.
Module 3. Essential Management and Transferrable Skills for Librariansaddresses topics such as: IFLA, ISO, Congress Library, NISO international Standards; strategic planning in the library; user care, services and strategies in libraries; time management: prioritization of time and workload; staff and library staffing structures; communication and listening skills; guide for libraries to develop presentation skills; decision-making, problem-solving and leadership skills for librarians; interviewing skills for librarians; management of change in the 21st century library; modern financial management in the library, acquisition and processing of library materials.|
The module was developed by the Academy of Public Administration of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of thePresident of the Republic of Belarus and implemented under Pilot Training 1 held in Chisinau (February 2017) and Minsk (December 2016).
In Chisinau, the development of the Trainings was monitored by international experts Angela REPANOVICI, PhD, professor, "Transilvania" University of Brasov, Romania, and Manolis KOUKOURAKIS, PhD, Director of the Library of the University of Crete, Greece.
Module 5. Innovative On-line Library Services for 21st Century Librariansrefers to the design of modern library sites, online platforms and portals; Public Access Online Catalogues (OPAC); Web 2.0 and Social Media technologies for libraries; mobile library: applications; virtual references and the "Ask a Librarian" service; combined search: new library options in the digital era; use of LibGuides for research.
The Module was developed and implemented within Pilot Training 2 at the Academy of Public Administration in November 2017. The trainees were the library and academic staff, the monitoring being done by the international observers Jerald CAVANAGH, Professor at Limerick Institute of Technology, Ireland and Padraig KIRBY, Director of Library of the Institute of Technology of Limerick, Ireland.
The didactic materials of the module were developed and presented in Pilot Training 1, conducted at the USARB in February 2017. The quality of the materials and the training activity was monitored by the international experts, EU partners Angela REPANOVICI, PhD, professor, Transylvania University of Brasov, Romania and Manolis KOUKOURAKIS, PhD, director of the Library of the University of Crete, Greece.

We believe that the present work will be useful for training all categories of librarians and users in the national libraries system, and the materials will be disseminated to the participants in the training courses and to all those interested in librarianship and information science, thus ensuring a maximum impact of project results on society in general. The suggestions of our library colleagues, after reading the texts, are gratefully awaited by the authors, so as to be taken into consideration in another edition of the teaching materials collection.
